Introducing our Vice President of Sales, Chris Widdess

The team here at Kard would like to introduce Chris Widdess, a seasoned executive leader who will help shape and drive Kard’s long-term vision, growth plan, and strategy.

Chris brings over 30 years of experience in senior leadership positions at both major corporations and startups. He spent the last 11 years building the Card Linked Marketing industry and educating merchants on the value of our channel in driving brand preference and incremental sales. He loves the environment of startup companies that have a clear vision and mission. He also has a huge passion for building these companies into winners at scale. His career has taken him around the world, including developing sustainable and profitable business channels in Asia/Pacific, Europe, South America, and Mexico.

“I joined Kard because I believe strongly in the value of Card Linked Marketing for merchants and Kard’s API-first solution is both elegant and intelligent. It delivers optimal flexibility for our issuer partners at a fraction of the cost of traditional CLO solutions. Additionally, the cardmembers we’re serving with our rewards solution (heavily Millennials and Gen Z) represent both the current and future market growth for leading merchants. I’m excited to help these same merchants capture and drive loyalty and extend the relevance of their brand. And the team Kard is building is pretty special, which made the decision to join them a no-brainer!”

Chris is all about the importance of family. He has a wonderful and successful wife and two young sons who do their best to keep him busy outside of work. Chris is also currently the coach of his son’s Little League baseball team. (Go A’s!) When he does get some free time, he loves to play golf, read, and travel.

Did you know Chris was actually a semi-professional poker player at one point in his life and had several tournament victories to his credit? Poker (and his love of math) has taught him many lessons about strategic decision-making and has allowed him to develop a great perspective on opportunity development. Those same lessons and values continue to influence his career today.

If you would like to get connected with Chris, please email him at or follow him on LinkedIn.
